Your Coach

Hello! I’m Sharon Lewis, a certified integrative health coach (Duke Integrative Medicine-trained), and the founder of Weigh to Think®, LLC. I started Weigh to Think® to help motivate and inspire others who would like to become healthy. I discovered that there were ways (“weighs”) to think as I was losing weight as part of my own personal journey to good health, and there are now “weighs” to think as I am learning how to maintain my new ideal weight. For me, losing weight was only a part of my health vision. Integrative health coaching helps complete that.

In 2014, I lost over 115 pounds. I am down more than 145 pounds from my all-time high weight in 2005. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I was always a chubby child. My parents also battled with their weights. In particular, my Mom ranged from overweight to morbidly obese.

My experience has ignited a passion in me to work with those who are obese and are experiencing stress in their busy professional lives – two areas that I have had direct, personal experience with. I hope that I can provide insight that will help others achieve what I have been so fortunate to have today – good health – inside and out.

As an executive, I did not like the way I appeared, and was very embarrassed about my weight. I truly believe that had something to do with not realizing my full potential. What I called "transformation part 1" was becoming healthy, physically and emotionally. "Transformation part 2" has been about becoming an integrative health coach, providing wellness consulting, and speaking about my journey and experience with the gastric sleeve surgery.

I completed the Duke Integrative Medicine, Duke University Health System’s Integrative Health Coach Professional Training Program, and subsequently completed their certification program. I hold an MBA in Quantitative Analysis from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a BS in Finance from Montclair State University. I have spent my career as an executive in global and domestic Fortune 100 companies in a variety of functions.

I put myself on my first “diet” when I was about 9 years old, eating 300 calories per day. Like many others, I tried nearly every diet imaginable, including Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Optifast, Atkins, South Beach, and the Grapefruit diet. I went on Redux, which was later removed from the market. Throughout the years, doctors kept telling me that my metabolism was very slow, although my thyroid was functioning fine. I once was able to get to a decent weight by restricting myself to 600 calories per day, exercising 6 hours per day. I was stressed out, and obsessed with exercise, but I couldn’t keep that up, and quickly gained all the weight lost and then some. Many years later, I maintained a weight that is about 70 pounds heavier than I am now by exercising 2 hours a day five days per week, and biking 60 miles every weekend. I was obese, but looked overweight because of all the exercise. I wasn’t at a healthy weight, and I couldn’t maintain that for long, either. Sound familiar? Today, I am healthy inside and out and feel amazing. I wish that for YOU!
